The Fortinet Certified Trainer (FCT) Assessment is a half-day examination led by FCT proctors and the ATC Team.

To apply, you must meet the following requirements

  • Are you sponsored by a Fortinet ATC?
  • Do you have strong knowledge and experience in network and application security?
  • Do you have strong knowledge and experience in cybersecurity?
  • Do you have solid and proven training delivery skills?
  • Do you have at least 5 years of trainer experience in IT security?

If you meet all of these requirements you can be a Fortinet Certified Trainer!

NSE 8 Fortinet Network Security Expert

Description

The NSE 8 Fortinet Network Security Expert designation recognizes your comprehensive knowledge of network security design, configuration, and troubleshooting for complex networks. To attempt the exam, you must have industry experience.

Who Should Attempt the NSE 8 Certification

We recommend this course for networking and security experts who use Fortinet solutions. In addition to formal training, you should have experience with a variety of complex networks, and can solve complicated security problems.

Program Requirements

There are no prerequisites to take the Fortinet NSE 8 written exam. However, you must take the NSE 8 written exam before you can take the Fortinet NSE 8 practical exam. The written exam is not a certification by itself. You must pass both the written exam and practical exam to obtain NSE 8 certification.

To prepare for the exams, we recommend that you take the NSE 4 to NSE 7 training courses and have comprehensive experience using Fortinet producsts in a production environment. The courses are optional.


About the NSE 8 Written Exam

The written exam is available worldwide, through Pearson VUE test center. After you successfully pass the written exam, you must purchase your seat to schedule the practical exam. Contact your regional Fortinet Training coordinator to schedule and coordinate the NSE 8 practical. Practical exams are available onsite at designated Fortinet NSE 8 test location.

The written exam contains questions about design scenarios with exhibits, configuration extracts, and troubleshooting scenarios that assess your security networking and Fortinet solution knowledge and experience. You are not allowed to bring reference materials in to the exam room.

  • Available worldwide at: Pearson VUE Test Centers
  • Number of questions: 60
  • Time allowed to complete: 120 minutes
  • Scoring method: Answers must be 100% correct for credit. There are no partial credit given or deductions for incorrect answers. You will receive a document containing a general pass or fail result, and indication as to which sections you passed or failed.
  • Type of questions: Multiple choice and multiple select
  • Time required between attempts: 15 days

About the NSE 8 Practical Exam

The practical exam is an in-person test. We offer multiple NSE 8 test locations across the world. The practical exam is a two-day, hands-on evaluation. During the practical exam, you must successfully configure and validate a complete network topology involving multiple Fortinet products.

During on-site lab closures, candidates who have completed the NSE 8 written exam requirement and are within one year from attempting the NSE 8 practical exam before expiry, will receive notification with an amended eligibility expiry date.

  • Time allowed to complete: 2 days, proctored
  • Scoring method: Answers must be 100% correct for credit. There are no partial credit given or deductions for incorrect answers.
  • Type of tasks: Hands-on configuration and troubleshooting
  • Time required between attempts: 15 days
  • Scoring: You will receive a document containing a general pass or fail result. No further details or assistance will be provided.
  • Number of attempts allowed: 3 attempts

Frequently asked questions about NSE 8 certification

NSE 8 Practical Exam Sessions

The NSE 8 Practical Exam on-site delivery remains suspended until local directives allow for safe reopening. Available openings will be communicated throughout 2021 as sites resume operations. See the FAQ page for more information.

Certification
  • To obtain certification, you must pass both the NSE 8 written exam and practical exam. To be eligible to sit for the practical exam you must schedule the practical exam within two years of passing the written exam.
    • NSE 8 certification is valid for two years from the date of completion.
    Recertification
    • You can renew your certification by taking the current NSE 8 written exam at a  Pearson VUE test center, as long as your certification has not expired.
    • Obtaining NSE 8 certification automatically renews all of the other NSE certification levels you previously earned regardless of whether those certifications have expired.
    • if your NSE 8 certification has expired, you will need to retake both the written and the practical exams to recertify.
