Course Description

FortiGate Telco is a 4-day instructor-led course designed for engineers and architects working on FortiOS deployments in mobile core network environments. The course combines core FortiOS administration and enterprise firewall topics with telco-specific coverage of SecGW functionality, roaming security using advanced GTP profiles, Gi/N6 firewalling for internet breakout, SIP and SCTP firewalling for EPC and IMS signaling, and extended CG-NAT content for address translation design, configuration, and monitoring.

Who Should Attend

Anyone responsible for the design, deployment, day-to-day management, or troubleshooting of FortiGate in mobile core network environments should attend this course. This includes network and security engineers, telco solution architects, system integrators, and operators who need to understand FortiOS and FortiCarrier features used to secure mobile core and service provider environments.

Prerequisites
  • Knowledge of firewall concepts in IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
  • Basic understanding of routing, NAT, VPNs, and network management systems.
Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Configure system and network settings, logging and monitoring, firewall policies, NAT, and routing on FortiGate using FortiOS 7.6.
  • Apply enterprise firewall capabilities including central management concepts, VLANs, VDOMs, high availability, and hardware acceleration.
  • Analyze sessions and traffic flow, configure IPsec IKEv2, and troubleshoot routing and connectivity issues using FortiOS tools.
  • Explain and apply SecGW functionality and mobile core security concepts relevant to telco deployments.
  • Configure roaming security using advanced GTP profiles, including filtering based on mobile-specific attributes.
  • Implement Gi/N6 firewalling, and understand SIP and SCTP firewalling for EPC and IMS signaling protection.
  • Configure and monitor CG-NAT, including design considerations for address conservation and service provider environments.
  • Configure BGP in the context of telco and service provider deployments.
  • Use FortiManager to support centralized management of FortiGate deployments.
System Requirements

If you take an online format of this class, you must use a computer that has the following:

  • A high-speed Internet connection
  • An up-to-date web browser
