The Fortinet Certified Trainer (FCT) assessment is a trainer evaluation process in which each candidate has to prove their training delivery skills. The FCT assessment is a two-day assessment that evaluates the FCT candidate’s ability to maintain Fortinet’s quality standards in technical knowledge, skills and instructional abilities.

Who can apply?

The FCT assessment candidate should be a Fortinet employee or a candidate sponsored by an ATC who has submitted proof of reference, along with an online application form. An FCT candidate who wants to apply for an FCT assessment must meet the following knowledge and experience eligibility requirements:

  • Extensive technical knowledge and skills in network security and cybersecurity
  • Five years of relevant experience in network security and cybersecurity
  • Certification in the required NSE training courses
  • Five years of experience in training delivery in IT security
  • Demonstrable training facilitation and delivery skills

Fortinet Certified Engineer Network Security

Description

The Fortinet Certified Engineer (FCE) in Network Security certification will be available for professionals starting on October 1, 2023.

The FCE in Network Security certification validates your ability to design, administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Fortinet network security solutions. This curriculum covers network security infrastructures using advanced Fortinet solutions.

Who Should Attempt the FCE in Network Security Certification?

We recommend this certification for cybersecurity professionals who require the expertise needed to design, manage, support, and analyze advanced Fortinet network security solutions.

Program Requirements

You must successfully pass a core exam and one elective exam.

Core exam:
  • Fortinet NSE 7–Enterprise Firewall
Elective exams:
  • Fortinet NSE 7–SD-WAN
  • Fortinet NSE 7–LAN Edge
  • Fortinet NSE 7–Network Security Support Engineer (to be released soon)

You will receive a digital exam badge each time you pass any version of the above exams. You will also receive a digital certification badge after you have achieved the certification.

To prepare for the certification exams, we recommend that you take the associated NSE courses. The courses are optional.

Becoming an FCE in Network Security on October 1, 2023
Professionals will receive this certification on October 1, 2023, if they have passed any version of the Fortinet NSE 7—Enterprise Firewall exam and one of the following exams:
  • Fortinet NSE 7–SD-WAN (any version)
  • Fortinet NSE 7–LAN Edge (any version)
  • Fortinet NSE 7–Secure Access (any version)
  • Fortinet NSE 7–Network Security 7.2 Support Engineer
Under the following conditions:
  • You passed one or both exams on or after October 1, 2021.
  • You passed one exam no more than two years before the other exam.

The expiration date of the certification received under these conditions will be two years after you pass the second exam.

Certification

To obtain the FCE in Network Security certification, you must pass the core exam and one elective exam within two years of difference. The certification will be active for two years.

Recertification
  • If your FCE in Network Security certification has expired, you must pass one core exam and one elective exam within two years of difference to earn active status.
  • If your FCE in Network Security certification is still active, you can extend its expiration date to two years from the date you complete the following requirement:
    • Passing the core exam and one elective exam within two years of difference.
  • If your FCE in Network Security certification is still active you can extend its expiration date to three years from the date you achieve or recertify the FCX in Cybersecurity certification.
  • Passing any of the FCE in Network Security exams recertifies your FCP in Network Security, FSF, and FCA certifications if they are still active.
About NSE Certification Exams
  • Available worldwide at: Pearson VUE test centers and OnVUE
  • Scoring method: Answers must be 100% correct for credit. No partial credit is given. There are no deductions for incorrect answers.
  • Type of questions: Multiple choice and multiple select
  • Time required between attempts: 15 days
  • Transcript and certificate: Your Fortinet Training Institute transcript is updated within five business days after you pass the exam. After that, you will be able to download a printable certificate from the Fortinet Training Institute.
