The Fortinet Certified Trainer (FCT) assessment workshop is a trainer evaluation process in which each candidate has to prove their training delivery skills. The FCT assessment workshop is a two-day assessment workshop that evaluates the FCT candidate’s ability to maintain Fortinet’s quality standards in technical knowledge, skills and instructional abilities.

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, and in an effort to protect the health and well-being of our candidates, Fortinet is now offering virtual/online FCT assessments. Virtual/online FCT assessments are half-day assessments conducted by FCT proctors and the FCT team.

Who can apply?

The FCT assessment candidate should be a Fortinet employee or a candidate sponsored by an ATC who has submitted proof of reference, along with an online application form. An FCT candidate who wants to apply for an FCT assessment workshop must meet the following knowledge and experience eligibility requirements:

  • Extensive technical knowledge and skills in network security and cybersecurity
  • Five years of relevant experience in network security and cybersecurity
  • Certification in the required NSE training courses
  • Five years of experience in training delivery in IT security
  • Demonstrable training facilitation and delivery skills

In this two-day instructor-led classroom training, candidates will learn how to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot a secure wireless LAN using Fortinet solution: FortiGate, FortiAP, FortiWiFi, FortiCloud, FortiPlanner and FortiPresence.

The course explores RF concepts and key standards for wireless LAN, devices configuration, security settings and troubleshooting.

In interactive labs, candidates will enforce their knowledge deploying a secure wireless LAN centrally managed from the FortiGate wireless controller and/or FortiCloud AP network.

Anyone who is responsible for day-to-day management of a Fortinet wireless solution.

  • Use FortiAuthenticator and device identification for BYOD
  • Thwart hotspot hackers with intra-SSID blocking, UTM, and wireless intrusion detection
  • Block rogue APs
  • Correctly use MAC filtering
  • Understand fast roaming and wireless client load balancing
  • Troubleshoot signal loss, slow connections, and authentication issues
